Development of Champions Gate was originally scheduled to begin in 2005 and much of the golf course and infrastructure was in place before the housing market declined caused development to be paused. April of 2012 saw the golf course architects revisiting the site in preparation for reconstruction of the original course layout and by the fall of 2012 most of the golf course had been restored and advanced to it’s original 2005 design. Construction of the 4 models begun in the Winter of 2012 and construction begun of the first homes at the beginning of 2013. The first completed homes are expected in April / May of 2013 and the infrastructure for the many facilities including the 2 main water parks and the golf clubhouse late 2013 / early 2014.
